To wind down, I decided to watch something new-new. It was my original thought to go with something completely different than my usual and I happened upon this gem.
Honestly, it's that Anne Rice wrote the original works that got me interested because the Interview With The Vampire books, movie and show are the bees knees. Not a big fan of witches but I was willing to give it a chance on the strength of Ms. Rice.
I'm glad I did as it is a very interesting show. And in a moment in time where I'll pivot to something else so fast it'll make my own head spin, that's saying something.
The protagonist fits right into this story almost perfectly. She gives just enough “I don't know what's going on” and “wait, I have all the answers” that you need for an interesting series. The antagonist is a welcome sight (missing him from Boardwalk Empire). Is this his best work? Did you see me mention Boardwalk Empire? NOOOOO! But, he does just enough, within budget, to keep you semi-intrigued with who (and what) he is.
And the supporting cast is just good enough to keep your eyes forward and your brain a-wondering.
I must say that I'm quite interested in seeing the next season.
Should you watch: if you like supernatural being shows, then you will be a happy camper.
Should You Watch: If you like shows or movies with supernatural beings, then you will be a happy camper.
It's not Interview With The Vampire show-good. But, could it get there? I guess we'll see in Season 2.
3/3/2026- Sleep
Streaming Platform: Hulu
Staring: Lee Sun-kyun, Jumg Yu-mi
Rated: Not Rated
Genre: Horror/Mystery

Run Time: 1hr 35mins
I happened upon this while I couldn't sleep so it seemed fitting.
This movie is very well done. There are subtitles but it is easy to follow and quite interesting so you fully get into it and the subtitles melt into the story. I'm sure we all have had some trouble sleeping and a few have even experienced sleep walking. If anyone has experienced the amount of terror involved with sleep and sleep-living as was in this movie, I'd love to hear about it.
The horror of it all, I believe, lives in the fact that the problem resides within the person you love that you now don't know what they will do next. Add kids to the equation and you can see how someone could literally go mad on both sides- the sleeper that doesn't know what they're doing while sleep and the partner that understands that literally ANYTHING can happen while the partner is sleeping.
There is a lot more to this tale. Lot's more! But, we can't give any spoilers so suffice it to say they go deep. Like Marianas Trench deep.
Is it scary? If you've ever slept with a partner or in any state where you are fully helpless with others around, then I think it will give you the heebee geebees (Shout out to Barry Gibbs of the Bee Gees....just because).
An original concept done impeccably.
Should You Watch: Lawd Yes....If you like scary movies
It just checks all of the boxes of an excellent film.
3/3/2026- Bridgerton

Again, this is the Cinderella story that we thought it would be in regards to Sophie and Benedict. As is common with all Bridgerton seasons, it is well meated out , all I's are dotted and all T's are generally crossed....that needed to be to end the season. There's still a few things to wonder about but overall, I wasn't mad at it at all.
The Queen's Storyline was immaculate, of course. I feel like we all need to be remined that she IS the QUEEN and they do that so well. Is it just me or would anyone else's timbers be shivered in the same room with Adjoa Andoh and/or Golda Rosheuvel? They are such beautiful women with such BIG presences even during interviews and what appears to be daily life. I couldn't imagine trying to match up to that. Great GREAT casting for those roles.
The Mrs Bridgerton and her lover's storyline is interesting too. I can see how difficult it is to integrate someone into a family that didn't ask for and doesn't "need" them. As a non-committest, this resonates well to me. But I can gather the frustration on the other side of the aisle.
They did an amazing job bringing all questions to a resolution except the one. I'll be curious to see how the Mrs. Whistledown conundrum goes next season. They got us again....hook, line and hop-dancing sinker.
Should You Watch: Why on earth would you not? It's perfect.
If a non-romance show/movie lover loves this, it is definitely for everyone.

I heard good things about this show, in passing. Other than the 1st few seasons of The Good Doctor, The Resident and all of Nurse Jackie, I haven't ventured into a medical based show where most or all of the content is shot in the medical facility. Not sure why, just never got into them.... and no, I've never watched an episode of Grey's. Maybe that tiny bit of a medical background makes one not want to see them? Perhaps when you can pinpoint a flub or misnomer, one disconnects. Maybe.
All of that said, this show is worth the hype. It's got it all, really. It's so well written that I am seriously impressed. It's well acted, well shot. There are no places to really pull at it. Well, it's a show and all but HIPPA would get those open convos and open doors. But, other than that, it's on point, truly. And as a former mandatory reporter, I really like those storylines where that determination has to be made.
The medical view of disorders and injuries are super realistic. The medical information put forth is actually pretty accurate (to my limited knowledge).
Noah Wylie should get some kind of award if he hasn't already. The writers are phenomenal.
Should You Watch: If you like medical dramas, this is the best on on today....like right now.
There is a second season underway. This will be a big shoe to fill.

I honestly put this one on hold for a bit.
As much as I loved Game of Thrones (minus Season 8), I did not think that House of the Dragon stood up to what GOT was overall. House of The Dragon wasn't bad. I just wasn't waiting with bated breath for the next episode to drop. I watched whenever because it was a meh for me. So, when another prequel appears with no fanfare, I assumed it was more of the same as HOTD and opted to get to it eventually.
I'm glad I waited, only because I would've been waiting for episode drops in a feening way.....much like the old days of GOT.
Is it that they didn't think it would do well? Is it a budget thing? I'm puzzled as to why this wasn't hyped up and why its 30 min episodes. Like as soon as you are getting into it well, the episode is over. And as soon as you are tying all of the red strings to the characters in this show and GOT, the season is done. It was much too short.
Well acted, especially Ansell and Claffey. They played their characters extremely well. You believe everything. The Baratheons, Targaryans.... it's all well done, well acted and well written. There's a thing about flip-flopping to the past they did that was somewhat annoying but it's only because they have you wanting to see what is about to happen NOW not back then. You are so interested that you want to move it along, eventhough the info is good and the past story is relevant.
In short, it's very good and very short. We deserved more.
Should You Watch: Oh my goodness YES!
We got to live in that world again and actually felt at home. It's an achievement and they should be proud.

I didn't even know that this was happening but I jumped right on it as soon as I saw it drop and boy, was I not disappointed.
Sommore has been in the game for decades now and she is literally never not funny. Like ever. She is always gonna get belly laughs, thigh slaps, mouth-covered tee-hees, head shaking "she wrong for that"s and hand clapping "I know that's right"s. Any streaming platform that she graces with her presence already knows she'll perform well because she is bigger than life but still happens to feel like a chick we can keke with at brunch, even if she's dressed in gorge outfit that would make Liberace blush, she still feels like a home-girl.
She covers her normal relationship commentary and adds in splashes of current headlines and social media talk. And her voice is always valid, refreshing and needed.
There is nothing bad at all to say about this special. Just like all of the other ones, its timely and hilarious.
Should You Watch: My hopes are that you've already seen it.
She never fails. She's always perfectly funny and perfectly coiffed. And in a world of mid comedians with little to no consideration for looking the part, she's gonna serve on all fronts.

Don't ask me why I find people subjecting themselves to needless torture in the wilderness so interesting.
Honestly, I think it's more watching them figure out how to find their next meal or build their shelter or even convince themselves that it's time to tap out- these are the processes I come to see. The fact that 10 different people can come up with 20 different ways to trap, fish, build- basically to achieve common goal and some do it effortlessly while other's never get there. Or even building an amazing shelter and having almost everything you need to survive, but deciding that it's time to get back to ye 'ol fam as opposed to continuing for the $500K bag.
This season had lots of interesting people in tow. And, as is the norm, I had some ponies picked to go the distance. I am very fond of Timber. Very fond indeed.
It felt to me like these guys did better than any group thus far under the conditions.
Should You Watch: Yeppers! Get into it.
It's so daunting and, if I'm being honest, I watch to take away little tricks if I ever need it. These guys are smart!

Can I share a little something with you? I'm a huge Katt Williams fan. Huge.
Whenever there is a special out or a Pod interview that looks interesting, I typically am in there pretty quickly.
There's something about him that I think we all know but what I truly enjoy is a thinker. He's more than that, though. He's super smart AND he's a thinker AAAND he's funny. This doesn't always work well as many smart folks can't figure out verbal content rhythm enough to achieve anything near what Katt has done. I applaud and love that about him.
That said, honestly, I've seen better specials. Did I laugh? Sure, but way less than typical.
Did he make some good points? Absolutely
Did he expose some things we didn't know? Nope. Not this time....well, if you've been paying attention in this crazy world.
What I'm seeing is a guy that has honed his craft for so long and so well that one becomes introspective to the point where it shows up in the work, but in the not funny way. Of course, he is hilarious, but this seemed like a half-apology tour and a half-I'm-really-talking-to-myself-on-a-stage-infront-of-all-these-people show. It's like he's working though some things that we would typically do privately, but in public. Still funny, but (as a thinker myself), I wonder about him.
Should You Watch: You should ALWAYS watch Katt.
He's a great thermometer. He's an awesome gauge.
I hope this is not the last report.....because with him, everything means something- including them pulled up socks and the American flag head wrap.

Omg! I figured it would be pretty good with how they left us waiting on this finale, but it was wild!
Again, surprised that I was as into this show as I am. It's not epic. It won't win any kind of major award. But, it's just so interesting!
This could, of course, be due to my love of all things with historical backing, but I definitely find myself looking for the new episodes like a kid eyeing the candy shelves near the register when they know they aren't supposed to ask for anything but them Gummy Bears have a hold on them that they don't even understand. I be like that on nights where I have time to watch something. Just scratching my neck and arms wondering when my supplier (Starz) is gonna give me a little taste.
It is good. Period.
They chose a very good way to end it. And up to that, the development of the storyline/finale was chef's kiss.
Can't pull it apart if I tried.
Should You Watch: You should already have watched and are waiting for Season 2 like me!
It's in my top 10 shows that I watch and am waiting to return now. It's gruesome and it's raw (so it may not be for everyone). But, it's for me and I ain't mad at that at all.

Is there not a person alive who isn't into Brigerton? Maybe I should say woman or non gendered being or maybe I should say any romantic that isn't on the Brigerton bus?
Well, as a very non-romantic movie/show lover, I am a huge fan. It could be that because I am a lover of all things historic and, although they tweak it a bit, I feel like this still goes well under the historic side of things- or at least it gives a good feel for it while making things a bit more interesting.
I'm sure I wasn't the only person doubting the ability to pull out another good storyline with what is left of the Brigerton family but, dare I say, they did it again.
Mind you, I literally think this every season and every season I am proved wrong.....delightfully so.
The one thing that bothers me about this season's lead is Benedict's "poop-eating" grins.... Is that meant to happen or what? Ugh.... it bothers me each time he does it.
Anyhoo, the storyline feels like we are going down the Cinderella tale irl and they are torturing us with the reveal of a split season and, with some additional images, potentially a 2nd fairytale story arch. And it seems like the costumes and gowns are especially extravagant and beautiful.
Sophie's role is so well done by Ha and the ending of the 4th episode definely leaves the viewer wondering how this all comes together.
And the Queen is ALWAYS exquisite. But, it looks like they made her a bit more "human" this season, which looks good on aristocracy.
Overall, I'm just as enraptured with the show as always (and this is huge talk from someone that is not at all {AT ALL} into this kind of thing).
Should You Watch: Most Definitely.
Shonda Rimes has a way of apealling to the every-man and weaving a tale of interest in almost everything she does. This is no different and I will be there for episodes 5-8 when they hit the platform on Feb 26th.
2/4/2026- The Beauty
Streaming Platform: Hulu/FX

Season: 1
Episode(s): 1-4
Not sure what happened with Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuck but something did. Either way, on the strength of the good seasons of American Horror Story and the good season of American Horror Stories, I'm probably going to check out whatever Murphy comes up with. And if you put Evan Peters in it, I am there with bells on and whistling Dixie. This isn't because he's hot or smoking or anything like that- he's cute. Nah, this dude is a real actor. He does what few have and he honestly has always done and that is truly melds into whoever he is playing and you stop seeing him as "Evan Peters playing this character". You only see the character. Doesn't matter how cray the character is, I still believe he's a cool dude. But, that takes skill.
Lets talk about this show. As with all of Ryan Murphy's shows, the build up is time consuming. Generally, it takes 2-3...sometimes 4 episodes to begin to really tie things together and to get "good". This show is no different. There are interesting things happening from the jump, but do we care? Not really.
By the end of episode 3, there's a spark of "Okay, here we go".
Ashton's character is, so far, kinda hanging in the wings. Anthony Ramos' character is gaining more ground in the 3rd and 4th episodes. I still don't believe him tho'. And it may have been a mistake placing him opposite Jeremy Pope here.... Jeremy is in pristine form. What is he doing to be this good? Everything I see him in, it's like he gets better and better. He has an emotional scene in Episode 3 that was so raw that I truly felt for him. So, an already unable to emote Ramos is getting overshadowed by Pope in every scene. I mean, it's not a contest but they all want awards so... And then there's Evan... Like c'mon. This is the guy that, when he begins to do movies, will be the one to watch for the golden dude. The scene in Episode 4 in the interrogation room... he managed to actually look disgusted and empathetic at the same time perfectly. What he can convey facially is phenomenal. It can't be taught. You either can or you cannot.
Overall, it's a decent show. I feel like episode 5 is going to begin to connect the dots. As of right now, all I know for sure is there's a beauty shot that's possibly causing issues with everyone that takes it and everyone they exchange bodily fluids with. Evan is trying to figure out the gist of it as an investigator, Ashton may be the godfather of it all and Anthony Ramos is wearing tight leather pants and pointy boots.
Should You Watch: Sure.
Evan is in it and the slow burn is how these things go. If you have the patience and the stomach for exploding people, buckle in and get ready for the ride.

I just completed episode 9 and there's one more coming, apparently.
I watched the original Sparticus irt and, although it looses a little something with time, it was good. In starting this series, I thought that it could not ever match up to the original. Now, when I say good, it ain't winning awards unless the category is sex scenes or gore but it's interesting. As a history nut, I love all things that give insight to anything historic, even if it's guessing. But this new off-shoot went in a direction I didn't see coming with the addition of a female, black gladiator. Now my attention is up. The acting is questionable, the story line is off slightly and who picked this guy to play Julius Ceasar? Like what was going on there?
Anyhoo, I am enjoying this series immensely. It's not winning awards but its entertaining. And I wish we still spoke in this straight-to-the-point way that omits any unnecessary words. Sounds robotic at times but efficient.
The exploration into what we actually know historically for Romans to be like is on full display. Lots of interesting characters to love and hate. My one real complaint is why is the gladiator arena so small? Of course it's probably a budget thing but ion like it.
